I’ve always enjoyed the productions at Toby’s. Also a number of Toby’s productions are great for kids of all ages…and what a wonderful way to introduce kids to the theater!

Hello Joel, Well done! Wonderful review of what’s in the offing. I’ll be seeing several of those you’ve reviewed. I concur: run, don’t walk, to see "A Murder, A Mystery and a Marriage" at Roundhouse. So much hilarity! I also want to thank Catalyst Theatre for its riveting production recently of "Someone Who’ll Watch Over Me." Theatre is alive and well in Washington! Joel - An excellent overview (as always) on what’s coming up around town. I saw "Buddy" in London in 1994 (I believe) and people were dancing in the isles. That would be hard to do at Toby’s but you can still tap your feet and clap your hands. I hope to see Toby’s version of "Buddy." Your article reminds me that I have a lot of plays to see!

Great coverage as always -really comprehensive and appropriately enthusiastic. You are our best cheerleader. Ellington is going to be great. Malary is a hugely popular performer in his hometown of Seattle and in Milwaukee where he has performed many times in Milwaukee Rep’s Cabaret Theatre. In addition he tours Europe as Porgy. Can’t wait to introduce him to the DC audiences. The music of Ellington and Brel in the same summer. How great is that.

I have enjoyed many of the shows Joel mentioned at Tobys. They do great work. I am also fond of Olney, Metrostage and Arena and all of these shows sound dynamic and fun, perfect for summer. Thanks Joel for the enthusiastic and nicely detailed description of these upcoming shows.
