Super Glossy! T-Minus 2 days

Okay, I’ve cheated a little on the countdown. Technically, Capital Fringe starts tonight (or has already started for some companies), but since I don’t open till Saturday, I’m giving ya the 2 day countdown.

And I’m sooooo ready. Kind of.

I still haven’t finished a part of the multi-media aspect that is animated. I know, I know, I’ve totally been putting it off and wanted to get to it this afternoon, but because of my own personal confusion with the opening night festivities, I spent the afternoon researching the companies I’m going to be interacting with on stage. And I’m not totally, completely memorized, but as opposed to last year, I’m not really worried about that. Oddly enough, I think I could do the show backwards. But not forwards. I get the scenes mixed up. TWO DAYS!

So, instead of doing animation and programs, like a good girl, I’m blogging for my faithful fan(s). Heh. Sorry I’ve been out of touch in the last week. What happened? Well, I flew to Minnesota for a few days to surprise my boyfriend for his birthday (dude lives in St. Paul). While that was happening, my awesome director, Jenny Lobland, volunteered to take the set design and construction of my hands so that I could focus on the animating and memorizing. TWO DAYS! And the results are incredible. Since the beginning of when I even started thinking about the set for this incarnation of the show, I wanted a projection screen made of white dresses. Jenny totally did that and then some and we have a beautiful piece that is hopefully not too large for our theatre! Another part of the set that we were having a hard time with was the “boxes” - we wanted 3 boxes, covered in a collage of magazine images, but the trick was getting boxes that were large enough for sitting on, but small enough to fly with (for when I go to San Fran in Sept), sturdy enough to support my fat ass, but light enough, again, to fly with. We came up with the brilliant idea of creating the collage underneath a clear plastic tablecloth. And the finished product looks incredible… except for one minor detail. Jenny folded the tablecloths for transport too soon before the glue was totally dry and so now they’re stuck folded in half. Oops. We might be able to salvage them, but if not, we’re using them as is. I just appreciate the help. I have a set! YES!  Although all at the expense of Jenny’s hand - she totally burned the hell out of her palm on a hot glue gun - the blister was the size of a nickel, I swear to dog.  Thank you Jenny, for sacrificing your hand modeling career for my show.

So, more later - it’s getting on in time and today I’ve had only a shoddy Starbucks ham & swiss on foccacia sandwich from one of those horrible rest stops here on the East Coast. Seriously. Why aren’t there supermarkets every once in a while right off the freeway? Can’t a sister get a grapefruit instead of a double cheeseburger? I’ve gotta go eat - but makeup and hair first. And then meet me here:

9pm

Avenue Nightclub - 649 New York Ave, NW (no cover, 21+ sorry babies)

See you tonight!!!
