The Trojan Women - a day away

Happy Wednesday! How nice to find a mention of Trojan Women in this morning’s Washington Post’s Fringe coverage. The article points out many of the festival’s female-centric shows, among which we are proud to be counted.

Under the cut: pictures from our director’s triumphant return, and preparing to storm the Source Theater tomorrow.

Our director has finally returned from the Canadian wilderness, and all of our actors are done with their first round of Fringe performances. We had a lovely brush-up rehearsal in Silver Spring last night with most of the costumes in place. It’s nice to be back in the rehearsal room again with this group of people - we’ve spent a lot of time together and feel very comfortable as a group.

Tonight we’ll be having a full dress rehearsal, and tomorrow we go into tech in the afternoon, with a performance at seven. Working in the space will be very different from the small rooms we’ve been rehearsing in, so we’re trying to prepare ourselves to adjust. Many concessions were made when Rachel learned the limitations of the space - originally there would have been a hanging drop for the set, but the Source does not have the capability for a hanging drop. Our designer, Colin Bills, planned boom and side lighting but we do not have the capability for that, either. However, Source is a lovely, intimate arena. It will fit the needs of our play beautifully. I went and scoped out the space, (seeing Cautionary Tales, which was great), and have reported back to the director everything that I could remember about the angle of the seating and so forth.

In our next update: pictures from tech and opening, and a performance report.

Pictures from last night: everyone welcoming Rachel back as she sobs with joy/embarrassment, Sabrina (Andromache) and Elizabeth (Cassandra) talking, and Christian (Talthybius) trying on his new costume as Rachel and Colin look on.
