Um, folks. You got used. This is the poster child for what can go wrong with audience choice. It is absolutely not a coincidence that every single award went to a show associated with MetroStage. Not to take anything aware from the wonderful shows and actors that were nominated, but the sheer number of votes is way, way out of proportion.

So, here's what happened: Someone at the Brain Trust at MetroStage decided to hijack your audience poll as a way of drumming up free advertising for the theater. There is no doubt that's what happened.

The question is: Did you do it wittingly or unwittingly? If the former, why did you allow yourself to be used? If the latter, do you have any problem with the results?

Two of my favorite plays you missed were Synetic Theater's Macbeth and Shakespeare Theater's Richard III, the latter with a stellar performance by Geraint Wyn Davies.
