Joel -

Thanks for this review. I watched the tribute via the Kennedy Center's video streaming. It was wonderful.

All the best,

Joel -

Thanks for a fabulous review of the tribute to Gilbert Mead. You made me regret even more than a scheduling conflict kept me away.

At last night’s celebration at the Kennedy Center, most descriptions of Gil describe his roots at the NASA Goddard Space Flight Center's Music and Drama (MAD) club. Many of us in MAD felt particularly close to him since he was one of our founders from way back in 1971 and so many of us had worked with him and enjoyed the fruits of his labors over the years. We were pleased that we had probably more than three dozen of his "MAD family" that were able to share this celebration of Gil's life and to remember all that he gave to us. As many of us who have known Gil for years will attest, the only thing missing from the celebration was a piano and a sing-along. At the celebration, I saw various people from Goddard that had known Gil for decades. I saw theater friends who had known him for just a few years to those who had known him for decades. I saw some very big names in theater to some big theater patrons. And amongst them all, I think we all celebrated his life and will cherish our memories.
