You'll get no argument from me! Lynn is all that and a variety pack of chips, as the kids say these days. AND, I'm happy to have been able to enlighten you to another polymath (person of encyclopedic knowledge) in the fields of vocal music/musical theatre/opera/operetta whose work has shown radiantly on numerous stages and in studios locally and regionally as a performer/professor/vocal coach/director/choreographer (when she's not saving countless shelter anlimals from certain death). Before you know it, you simply won't have any free time left what with following the exploits of these two brilliant ladies!!! Aren't we DC audiences truly blessed to have two such gifted performers among the dozens of other luminaries that populate our stages?? (I'm doubly-blessed to have performed with, and learned from, both of them and to call them peers and, not too presumptuously, friends!!) So, to recap my initial posting: Lynn = brilliant, Lisa = brilliant, SoM = brilliant, Toby = shrewd (&, let's not forget, brilliant) audiences = blessed. Lynn wins, Lisa wins, Toby wins, audience wins, everybody wins. Winwinwinwinwin.

Lynn Sharp Spears is a glowing presence with a powerful voice that can literally blow out a microphone. For years I've followed her polymathic work as a performer, set designer and fabricator for stage and screen--she is a radiant talent.

While I agree this is a great production and that Lynn is brilliant as the Mother Abbess, as she has been in the myriad roles she has performed across the region over the years, I would recommend to you both to be sure not to ignore Lisa Carrier, who is double-cast with Lynn in this role. Lisa is a locally and nationally renowned coloratura soprano who has received raucous ovations on a nightly basis in this role. You would do well to attend another performance of the show on a night when Lisa performs the role to fully appreciate just how shrewd Toby has been in securing the talents of not one, but two amazing sopranos to assay this difficult role during the numerous and taxing performances she is serving to her audiences.

Cheers
