Hip-Hop Celebration Comes to DC

July 7 – The New York-based Hip-Hop Theater Festival 2008 opens in DC on July 8th and stays for five days and nights.
This year’s tour includes Sekou tha Misfit & Steve Connell who return with The Word Begins, last seen at Signature. The range of hip-hop culture is represented from B-Boy crews, spoken word, theatre, and dance. The artists fill stages from the Kennedy Center, to Studio Theatre, Dance Place, Chief Ike’s Mambo Room, a round table discussion at Flashpoint, an all day series of workshops,swim party and BBQ at DC Urban Arts Academy and a final wrap party at the Pacific Cafe Lounge .
All events are free and open to the public, including the final wrap party. Reservations are strongly suggested. We’ve listed the full program and ticket info here.
