It would be more cool if A&E did a special on Janis Joplin and let D.C. concentrate on producing works that are actually theatrical.

This was a really, really nice show where you could relax and hear some good music come from a very talented cast. It's family friendly. I came with three other people and they too enjoyed it as much as I. We topped it off with an early dinner at an area restaurant, and enjoyed talking about the show and Pearl Bailey memories. I was a kid when I'd seen her on TV. She always smiled big, and wore a diamond tiara atop her behive do that I thought was so regal, and so Pearl Bailey. She used to wear this diamond pin that spelled out "LOVE," and always talked in a joking way about her feet hurting There was so much synergy between Roz White, the combo and the audience on the day we went. This lady can sing, and the gents can play.

I would have preferred a little more history such as her parents reaction to her taking an interest in show business. The art deco set was nice -- clean definitions and color, lighting was perfect, sound excellent. The little cabaret tables complete with candles (fake?) really added to the atmosphere which was cozy. Miss White's gown, stole, and jewels were fabulously elegant, but the white hat was a distraction. It's still very much worth a go see with or without the hat!

Wouldn't it be cool if some theatre in the D.C. area did Janis Joplin??
