Well clearly CG is a disgruntled performer here in the DC area. I'm not sure who his vitriol is levelled at, but I had no problem with the acting. It is a Director who ultimately is responsible for each and every factor of a production. Don't shoot the messengers!
And frankly, my sister and I thought that any show where we could see Nancy R., Rick F., Floyd K., J.Fred S and Ted Van G. in a single production, was well worth the price of admission.

I suppose this is a modern take on the play, which was a surprise, because it wasn't what I expected.

Only an absolute luddite would think this was in any way a good production. It was like a 12-year old Norma Desmond's rendition of what is really a rather subtle (and, in some ways, sad) play. It is a real shame that STC cannot use its resources (couldn't they have taken some of that rose petal budget and gotten better actors?) to create geniunely high-quality productions. And it is an even bigger shame that DC audiences cannot recognize the difference.

Mom said this was a wonderful production, skillfully directed - very smart! As usual Rick's and Nancy's performances were hilarious. Hi Rick and Nancy - Hail to the old days at Source!

I believe Tim's review is spot on. I don't think the central storyline works well and the brother and sister don't really match, but the other subplots are handled well and are worth seeing. In particular, Tom Story, Floyd King, and Veanne Cox give memorable comic performances. I normally don't recommend a meal based on the side dishes, but this production is a satisfying feast.
