I saw this play and it was not really funny. I remember reading it some years ago and laughing 'til tears ran down my cheeks. The play's City Manager was a comical nervous nelly, and the catalyst for all the fears that would be played out by the other characters. Typical government bureaucrats all up in a tizzy when they learn the IG is going to be in their affairs. I had to wonder when I read the play that if someone produced it whether it would be quite a challenge. Somehow I thought so. For the first time I saw this play at Journeymen. The city manager in this production was not funny, but rather bland and so were most of the other characters. Even the "Director's Notes" were confusing. I'm not saying this to be mean. I respect the actors and their work. But this show was flat.
