Joel, I really enjoyed reading the article. I, like so many others who have responded thus far, had the great pleasure of working with Allison and Rachel in RMT’s “West Side Story”. It was truely a pleasure working with all the members of the cast and crew of that show and I would gladly work with them again in a heart beat. The whole production was so intense and awesome. I am extremely happy to see this recognition for these amazing ladies. They deserve it.

I loved the Elden Street Players ”The Musical Of Musicals (The Musical!)”. I laughed so hard my side was aching by the end of the show. Mimi spoke highly of all those who worked on the production. Your interviews with Jane and Brent revealed the experience and professional insight they brought to the show. Thanks for sharing!

I would consider myself somewhat new to the DC theatre scene and have only seen a handful of shows. However, after seeing the Musical of Musicals, I know now the the DC theatre scene is for real. Incredible talent and personality and a profound ability to draw the audience in with each new set of characters. Wonderful job to cast and crew. A special shout out to Mimi Preda who was absolutely fantastic. Wonderful voice and a lot of presence on stage. Definitely an up and coming star in the making.

It was a joy to be an audience member for several WSS performances and to hear and see such committed performances from the entire cast! What a treat to read the interview with Rachel and Allison! I am the proud high school chorus teacher of Rachel Brook. She was amazing then and continues to be so. I am delighted that her career is blossoming, and so glad she was able to play Maria in West Side Story, my favorite musical of all time! Brava, Rachel!!

Enough cannot be said about Allison’s and Rachel’s performances… Everyone in the cast knew “A Boy Like That” would be a show stopper from the first run-through. In the few scenes I shared with them, there was an attempted rape, and a gun pointed at my throat. In both instances these ladies showed such professionalism,trust, courage, and commitment that it was a constant pleasure to act opposite them. A truly deserving choice.

I’m still kicking myself for not making it out to see this West Side Story. Rachel Brook is a terrific talent and she sang the begeezus out of some music I wrote earlier this year for the David Ives play “Philip Glass Buys a Loaf of Bread” (of which, incidentally, a video can be found on my website.) I do hope DC gets to experience more of her singing and acting, and I also wish they’d remount this West Side!
