Ragtime closes Sunday, Jan 3rd.

The Kennedy Center’s revival of Ragtime, which Broadway producers picked up with most of its cast intact for a run at the Neil Simon, giving Washington performers Tracy Lynn Olivera, Dan Manning,  and Donna Migliaccio their first Broadway credits, will close after a disappointing run of 57 performances on Sunday, January 3rd, 2010. Peter Marks has more details here.

My husband and I saw the original production in NYC and the tour in DC.  We saw the revival last week and it was wonderful and better in some ways. The paring down didn’t hurt it at all.  It’s a shame that a few people’s opinions (reviewers) can spoil it for everyone.  Lot’s of people will be deprived of a wonderful musical with a lot of really talented and hard working performers……Shame! Shame! Shame!
