Joel hits the Helen Hayes Awards’ Red Carpet

Welcome to the Red Carpet at this year’s Helen Hayes Awards ceremony. Here’s what happened on Monday, April 25, 2011 from 6:15-7:45 PM outside of the Warner Theatre!

Maryland Theatre Guide’s Mark Beachy and I joined forces to capture the diversity of our DC area theatre community and as you are about to see – we had a blast doing it!

We schmoozed with some of the nominees, acting instructors, some of our most talented local young performers, and media whose websites cover our ever-growing theatre community.

Among those interviewed: Jacqueline Lawton, Ricky Ian Gordon (with Joel) John and Leo Manzari, Kate Eastwood Norris, Bill Largess, Lauren 'Coco' Cohn and Rachel Condliffe

Take a look at some of the fashions of the evening, and see the enthusiasm and pure joy on the faces of these performers nominees, and presenters as they enter the Warner Theatre, take their seats, and then wait nervously to see if their name(s) are in those envelopes.

Enough from me! Sit back and watch our coverage of the Red Carpet of the 2011 Helen Hayes Awards!

The award ceremony and the biggest cast party in DC are always great!  DC has such a warm and wonderful theatre community.  Tom and I are grateful that we can feel part of it and be inspired by so many talented, committed, and lovely people.
