Going to Source? Try these dining spots

Source operates a black box space capable of reshaping and reimagining itself to fit the diverse productions it stages. In a plum northwest location, Source resides in a neighborhood just as versatile with prime dining along 14th Street and the vibrant U Street  nightlife just blocks away. Washington Improv Theatre, Constellation Theatre Company and the Source Festival are resident companies.

doi moi

Serving Southeast Asian style food in a clean, well-lit setting, doi moi has crafted its source region’s traditional flavors into a chic experience. Vietnamese and Thai food fuse in a menu of spice, noodles and curry while exotic fruit dishes featuring durian and coconut contribute to doi moi’s Asian-market character. Doi moi makes a choice spot for Asian cuisine fiends to get straightforward classics in an upscale environment.

Ted’s Bulletin

Known for their family friendly atmosphere and killer brunch, Ted’s Bulletin features well-made comfort food. With an interior similar to the lunch counter of an old-styled train station, Ted’s Bulletin presents itself as a vintage greasy spoon less the grease. Though country fried steak makes an appearance and tots are the standard side, Ted’s imbues diner fare with first-rate ingredients ensuring their menu is as quality as it is savory. The tricked-out pop tarts make a fantastic (and colorful) all-hours desert.

Compass Rose

Have hunger, will travel. Food is a great motivator to see the world and that’s just what Compass Rose owner Rose Previte did. Over four years, Rose and her husband tasted their way across 30 countries amassing one sizable recipe book, the best picks making up the menu of Compass Rose. Featuring international street food, the restaurant gives patrons the sensation of backpacking across Europe and Asia all from the comfort of a neighborhood tavern. The khachipori (cheese filled bread, organic egg, local butter) hailing from Georgia stands as a patron favorite.
