Whether of not you have ever heard of blues and jazz legend Alberta Hunter, get on over to Metro Stage where they’ve cooked up a heady stew of a musical. Cookin’ at the Cookery. The show serves it up right:  two knock-out performers telling a remarkable story seasoned with hot blues and sweet jazz.

 The Washington premiere of this award-winning musical about the legendary blues and jazz singer Alberta Hunter covers the remarkable life of Alberta Hunter: growing up in Memphis in the early 1900’s, her international career that flourished in Paris and London from the 20’s through the 40’s, and her triumphant comeback at The Cookery in Greenwich Village at the age of 82.
