Two Future Stars Shine in Act Two’s Cabaret

Josh Holober-Ward and Tracy Ramsay

Interviewed by Joel Markowitz

Wilkommen to Act Two’s production of Kander and Ebb’s Tony Award winning musical Cabaret. Joel Markowitz schmoozed with 17 year-old Tracy Ramsay and 18 year-old Josh Holober-Ward who burned up Olney Theatre Center Stage as Sally Bowles and The Emcee.
After seeing Tracy’s heartbreaking and vocally riveting performances as Eponine and Lucy in Act Two’s productions of Les Miserables and Jekyl and Hyde, Joel couldn’t wait to see Tracy as Sally Bowles. And what a performance she gives! And Josh’s emcee is equally powerful, sympathetic and vocally astounding.
What is their favorite song in the show? For Tracy, it’s, of course, “Cabaret”.”I really feel that it’s the moment that I am most true to Sally.” For Josh, it’s the haunting “I Don’t Care Much.” “It’s so beautiful..and it has that downtrodden thrown-out feeling.”
And why do they love performing in the theatre? For Tracy, “It’s such a great gift to embody another person and I can pass that to the audience in my personal way.” For Josh, “every musical and play was written by someone who had a story to tell. It’s great to be one of those storytellers.”

Listen here.
Act Two’s production of Bye Bye Birdie plays June 12 – 15 at Olney Theatre Center, Olney, MD. Performances: Thurs, Friday and Saturday at 7:30 and matinees Saturday and Sunday at 2 pm. . More information on the website.</itunes:summary>
