Joel Markowitz interviews cast members of The Sound of Music, now playing at Toby’s, the Dinner Theatre of Columbia.
Joel takes us backstage on press night to talk with with David Bosley-Reynolds (Captain Von Trapp), Jessica Ball (Maria Rainer) and Lynn Sharp Spears (The Mother Abbess).
Jessica tells us about her approach to the role of Maria and what she is feeling when she sings the opening number, and they explain what it’s like rehearsing and performing with two different children’s casts.
They share excerpts from ‘Something Good’, ‘Edelweiss’, ‘The Lonely Goatherd’, and Lynn blows the steeple off ‘Climb Ev’ry Mountain’ to end the podcast.

Speaking as a theater reviewer, I want to congratulate Joel on this great interview with Sound of Music leads David Bosley Reynolds and Jessica Ball, who seem perfectly cast as Captain von Trapp and Maria. Joel captures much of the experience of being at this wondrous show that is ideal family entertainment for the holidays.
