Feb 3 –Still in mascara after the matinee of La Cage Aux Folles, Larry Munsey, whose astounding performance as Albin and Zaza has local critics raving, talks with Joel Markowitz about his roles, and how he prepares for his showstopping “I Am What I Am.”
Remember in 42nd Street how Peggy Sawyer saved the show when the diva lead breaks her leg? Larry’s co-star, Darren McDonnell, who originally was cast as Mercedes of La Cagelles, tells us how he was thrust into the role of Georges when Jason Fullmer fell ill.
How did Larry Munsey adapt his character to Darren’s Georges? Listen as they sing”Song On The Sand” and “The Best of Times.”
“It’s hot and hectic, effervescent and eclectic at La Cage Aux Folles”

Another great podcast Joel. Larry and Darren were terrific in their roles in Tobys’ fine production of La Cage. Larry gave one of the best performances I have seen this year anywhere (including NYC and London). It was interesting to hear about all that goes into putting on the show, the costumes and about Darren’s amazing quick learning of a leading role. Thanks for sharing.
