Hugh Panaro, Broadway’s renowned Phantom in Phantom of the Opera earned him critical raves, opens the ArtSpeak! season with an evening of entertainment, songs, and conversation, this Wednesday, November 5 at 7:30 pm
Panaro, 44, made his Broadway debut as Marius in Les Miserables, and has originated the roles of Buddy in Side Show, Julian in The Red Shoes, and Martin Guerre in the play of the same name. He has played Ravenal in Hal Prince’s West End production of Show Boat, and recently completed a European tour with Barbra Streisand.
Panaro has also appeared in Jesus Christ Superstar (Jesus), Sweeney Todd (Anthony Hope), Company (Bobby) and Chicago (Mary Sunshine), among other productions.
Mr. Panaro’s appearance at West Springfield High School, located at 6100 Rolling Road in Springfield, Virginia, is jointly sponsored by the school’s theater department and ArtSpeak!, founded by Mark Shugoll to introduce Washington-area students to notable actors and performers. The popular program is open to everyone.
Mr. Panaro’s talk is free. Reservations are not required, but organizers recommend that patrons come early to assure themselves of good seating.
