This just in from Paul Douglas Michnewicz, Artistic Director of Theater Alliance:
“Bruce Robey died on September 21st of a heart attack.
His wife and daughter, Adele and Julia, have arranged a tribute to Bruce on Sunday, October 4, at 7 p.m. at the H Street Playhouse, the “black box” theatre that Bruce and Adele single-handedly created and which subsequently became our home. All are invited. The final program is not yet set, but folks may be invited to recount their favorite recollections about Bruce. Please come prepared. The H Street Playhouse is at 1365 H St., N.E. See www.hstreetplayhouse.com.
Bruce was our volunteer Webmaster and Photographer. His images of last years productions can be seen in next month’s American Theatre magazine. He has never missed a production and has even built some of our sets.
The family asks that in lieu of flowers, please send donations to the Capitol Hill Community Foundation, www.capitolhillcommunityfoundation.org. This organization was important to Bruce and has been a key supporter of Theater Alliance since the very beginning. A nice commentary appeared on WTOP News site
“Now let the weeping cease” was Bruce’s favorite song from our production of GOSPEL AT COLONUS. Not just yet, Bruce. Not just yet.”
