Joel Markowitz is always discovering new talent, and now media sources are discovering him. His DCTS column, Theatre Schmooze, is packed with performer news and views and he has done scores of interviews for DCTS, sitting down with stars and newcomers alike. Recently, Joel added a monthly preview column on BroadwayWorld to his busy to-do list.
Members of the media have been taking note. Joel has been appearing on Internet video and radio and on local cable, and now’s he’s being heard on a New York talk show.
It took only one guest appearance on The Lunch and Judy Show, the delightful talk/entertainment show, for host Judy Stadt to offer him a weekly spot to tell listeners about theatre he’s seen in New York and, of course, in and around Washington DC.
Joel has met his match in Judy Stadt and her wildly funny high energy show. Her Web site calls it “live radio with pizzazz”, and that’s exactly what it is as Judy delivers talk, while slipping in some comedy and crooning (we just heard her create a duet with Sinatra). When Judy and Joel chat – both no strangers to schmoozing – the talk is easy, informative and very funny.

“The Lunch and Judy Show” can be heard live every Saturday afternoon on MediaonTap, which also archives it for later listening.
In the last few months, Joel has been recorded on the red carpet at Helen Hayes by DCPlace, been a guest on Rich Massabny’s “Conversations with Rich” on Fairfax Cox Cable 10, and on Steve Teroutka’s show on WCBM, Baltimore, and last year, was a panelist on the Broadway Stars Tony predictions show, “This Week on Broadway”.
