On Monday, April 26th at 8pm, Harvey Fierstein and the cast of the national touring company of Fiddler on the Roof will perform Raising the Roof, a cabaret to benefit the national non-profit, Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS at Town Danceboutique, a premiere gay dance club and performance venue. Town has graciously donated their space and food will be sponsored by Joaquin “Jocko” Fajardo. The evening’s festivities will also include a raffle for Fiddler tickets, signed posters, t-shirts, private cooking lessons, Zagat guides, dinners for two, and more.

Harvey Fierstein (Tevye) will serve as the Master of Ceremonies, which will be music directed by David Andrews Rogers (Conductor/ MD) and Nathan Thomas (Associate Conductor). Fiddler cast members slated to perform are: Jessica Scholl, Katie Babb, Joel Bernstein, Emily Shoolin, Leslie Alexander, Matthew Rossoff, Kerry Alexander, Matthew Marks, Colby Foytik, Kaitlin Stillwell, Gary Brintz, Zal Owen, Juliana Stefanov, Scott Leiendecker, Deborah Grausman, T. Doyle Leverett, David W. Gilleo, Hannah DelMonte, Rebecca Hoodwin and Mary Stout.
Mary Stout sent this to DCTS’s Joel Markowitz: ” I am looking forward so much to the benefit on Monday. I’ve been involved with BC/EFA fund raising for quite some time now and it’s such a great cause. Not only is that money going to directly help the people who need it, but it’s also donated back to communities in need as well. I think we can really make a difference. AND – what a fun way to put the icing on the cake with a benefit! “Yente” doesn’t really get a chance to show off her chops in the show – and on Monday I’m singing a song written FOR ME by Scott Hayes and Alex Rybeck. It’s called “An Explanation to Mom” ……well, I don’t want to give anymore away. Come on down to the Danceboutique and find out just what I have to explain…….see ya there!”
The company of Fiddler on the Roof has hosted benefits for BC/EFA in Chicago and Los Angeles. Since the tour began in January 2009, they have raised a total of nearly $50,000. Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS is the nation’s leading industry based HIV/AIDS fundraising and grant-making organization.
