In case you’re not already booked for the many shows performing around town tonight, we thought you might enjoy watching “A Broadway Celebration: In Performance at the White House” premiering tonight, Wednesday, October 20 at 9 p.m. on PBS stations nationwide (in the DC area, see it on WETA TV26 and in New York on WMET, channel 13 (more local listings) and re-airing at 10pm.
The sixty-minute television special, recorded July 19th at the White House, is hosted by President and Mrs. Obama and emceed by Nathan Lane. The hour long program features Idina Menzel, Brian d’Arcy James, Audra McDonald, Chad Kimball, Elaine Stritch, Marvin Hamlisch, Karen Olivo, Tonya Pinkins, Assata Alston and a youth ensemble from DC’s Joy of Motion Dance Center and Duke Ellington School of the Arts, with Danielle Arci and Constantine Rousouli.
