Most interesting read of the morning: ‘White Hot Set’ from WeLoveDC. Jenn Larsen, seeing that minimalist all- white set for Old Times wondered what it took to create and maintain it.
The answers: meticulous work on the part of set and lighting designers (a lampshade the wrong color white will draw focus, lighting must not create shadows) . And a set which gets repainted for nearly every performance.
But she uncovered the biggest secret when she toured backstage at the Lansburgh Theatre. Opening the cabinet of cleaning supplies, she learned how they keep those cigarette ashes off the white leather couches. Read it all here.
