With Hurricane Irene concentrated on DC area coastal regions, theatre companies have reported that they will continue with scheduled performances this weekend. The only events we have found which have been officially postponed are: Repertory Opera Theater’s performance Saturday night ‘Grand Night of Opera’, and Washington Improv Theatre’s picnic, WITnic on Sunday. And Olney Theatre, while continuing with their production of Grease, is offering free ticket exchanges; call the box office at 301.924.3400.
Metro will maintain regular weekend schedules, although you might want to set out early, as service delays are likely, they caution, especially on Saturday night.
Most companies will email patrons if there is a last minute cancellation. Otherwise, you might double check the company’s Web site before heading out. In the case of Adventure Theatre and The Puppet Co, both located in Glen Echo Park, you can check the park’s hotline: 301.320.2330 OR 301.634.2222 ext. 9.
Here is contact information for all shows playing this weekend.
If you receive word of cancellations, we hope you will help your fellow theatregoers by posting them in the comments below.
Glen Echo Park is closing at 6pm today. Please call the Park hotline at 301.320.2330 for updates on tomorrow! The hotline will be updated by 7am.
Saturday night’s Longacre Lea show has been cancelled because CUA has shut down all campus activity. According to the CUA website it expects things to run as usual tomorrow, so Sunday’s matinee is presumed, at this time, still to be happening.
Thanks, everyone, for helping your fellow theatregoers by keeping us up to the minute with these cancellations.
Toby’s Dinner Theatre in Columbia has canceled Saturday evening’s performance of ANYTHING GOES. The Sunday matinee (closing performance) is still on.
Artisphere has announced that it is closed, which means no Happy Days previews today or tomorrow.
