January 15, 2012 – The Washington Area Theatre Community Awards announced its judges’ nominations for the 12th annual WATCH awards at The Birchmere in Alexandria, VA.
WATCH judges (themselves members of the 32 company members of WATCH) adjudicated 127 productions (40 musicals and 87 plays), rating them over 38 categories.
The top three most recognized companies were Little Theatre of Alexandria (22 of their 43 nominations were for Hairspray), followed by Elden Street Players with 22 nominations (Ain’t Misbehavin‘ was the favorite) and The Arlington Players with 17.

The WATCH Awards ceremony will be held Sunday, March 11th, starting at 7pm, at The Birchmere, 3701 Mount Vernon Ave, Alexandria, VA. Tickets to the awards are $15.50, and can be purchased through Ticketmaster of the Birchmere Box Office.
