Seeking burlesque performers and actors/variety performers who can do burlesque!
4&9 Productions is seeking 3 female or female-presenting principal burlesque performers for our 2012 Capital Fringe Festival show, Cupcake Cabaret: A Brief History of ‘Bad’ Women. In artistic partnership with The Soundry, Cupcake Cabaret is a multi-media show about the development of burlesque in the 20th Century United States and its relevance to 21st Century women.
Performers will receive professional photo shoots (headshot and performance photos) and a small cash stipend for performances. Non-Equity production.
We are open to all ages, physical types, styles of burlesque, and levels of experience. We’re looking for performers who capture the spirit of burlesque and who connect with and energize audiences.
AUDITION PROCESS:
First Round audition will be held on Sunday, February 26th from 6-10pm at The Red Palace. Please plan to be available for the entire evening. Auditions will be a little bit open mic, a little bit Burlesque Idol, and a lot of entertainment! Each auditioning performer who registers for a slot will have the chance to perform a number of her choosing for a live audience. The audience will vote for their favorites for call backs.
The selected performers will then be given one week to prepare an original routine based their interpretation of one of the three themes of the show, which will be revealed at the end of the first round audition.
Call Back audition will be held on Sunday, March 4th from 7-10pm at the Red Palace. Again, the audience will vote for their favorites. Winners will be announced on Thursday March 3rd, on the JellyVision Show.
