Puppet Underground, the DC collective of politically minded puppeteers, is hosting NYC puppeteer Erin Bell this weekend at La Casa. They call it “Puppet Underground Cabarette”, described as (smaller, shorter, and better than ever!) and it comes with a warning: “This cabarette has puppet nudity and sex and may not be appropriate for children.”
Bell will be performing Do Right Belly Fire, Do Right Monkey Brain, “a toy theater symposium on desire and love! Prairie dogs, neuroscientists, and synchronized swimmers chew on frenchified theory (a la Delueze, Guattari and Pema Chodron), with a cockroach opera sprinkled on neuroscience bits.”
We’re assuming there will be a break before the next act, Puppet Underground member Ken Srdhak’s play, which included no description, Debt Ceiling and Other Vicious Lies.
Interspersed will be poetry by Zaine Elamine.
It all takes place at La Casa, 3166 Mt. Pleasant St NW, Washington, DC. Admission, paid at the door is a $15 – $5 sliding scale donation.Questions? Email here.
