Olney Theatre Center begins its search for new Artistic Director
Olney Theatre Center announced this morning that Martin Platt, who joined the company as its Artistic Director in June, 2012, has moved on to other endeavors. Olney Board member Alan Wade, who has been seen onstage at Olney in productions such as Witness for the Prosecution and Farrugut North, will serve as Artistic Director while Olney conducts a search to permanently fill the position.
Mr. Wade will be handling the ambitious 2013 season programmed by Mr. Platt. That includes a new play by Jeff Talbott, The Submission, the classic Angel Street, a modern day dress version of Tartuffe, and a visit from New York’s Bedlam Theatre doing St. Joan and Hamlet in repertory along with three musicals – Spring Awakening, Carnival and, for the holidays, Once Upon a Mattress.
Wow– what on Earth is the real story behind this??
