The 2013 Drama Desk nominees were just announced by Linda Lavin and John Lloyd Young at 54 Below. Among the productions receiving multiple nominations which Washington audiences have been able to see are Giant by John LaChiusa, which debuted at Signature Theatre in 2009 and Steppenwolf Theatre’s production of Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf? the bound-for-Broadway production which came to Arena Stage in 2011.
Many, our critic Richard Seff among them, were rooting for Hands on a Hardbody, which received numerous mentions, but too late to save the show, which closed April 13th.
This year, Drama Desk decided to recognize the artistry of Projections Design with the newly added category; we would hope other awards would also consider: Projections Design.
