We have three productions have their official openings this weekend: Tom Stoppard’s The Real Thing at Studio Theatre, Nöel Coward’s Blithe Spirit at 1st Stage in Tysons Corner, and, on Memorial Day itself, Forum Theatre will open the jazz and blues-inflected Clementine on the Lower 9 about surviving Hurricane Katrina.
Memorial Day celebrations begin at noon Sunday, May 26th, when members of Rolling Thunder rev up their motorcycles to roar their way into the nation’s capital. The National Memorial Day Concert takes place on Sunday at 8pm on the west lawn of the U. S. Capitol, aired live by PBS, and on Monday, May 27th, the Memorial Day Parade begins at 2pm.
Memorial Day Moment of Silence: Finally, wherever you are on Memorial Day, we hope you will pause at 3pm for one minute to show respect for those who have given their lives for our country.
