Bob Marley’s Three Little Birds, a ‘jammin’’ musical with live accompaniment featuring the timeless music and lyrics of Bob Marley and based on the children’s book by his daughter Cedella, will share the legendary reggae artist’s message of peace and love with a new generation of songbirds in 2014.
Three Little Birds, which so successfully premiered at Adventure Theatre MTC last March, (Debbie Jackson top-rated it, calling it “high octane fun“) will take to the road next winter, stopping first at Bowie State Fine and Performing Arts Center in January, then moving on to the off-Broadway venue New Victory Theatre, February 7 – 2013, 2014, the company announced yesterday.
For those who haven’t seen it – Three little birds sing their sweet songs to Ziggy, a very shy child who is happy to see the world from the television in his room. But with the help of his feathered friends and his naughty neighbor Nansi, Ziggy is reminded in soothing six-part harmony that “every little thing’s gonna be all right.”
The entire cast will be reprising their roles including: Jobari Parker-Namdar as Ziggy, S.Lewis Feemster, Ayanna Hardy, David Little, Michael Mainwaring, Angeleaza Anderson, Brittany Williams, and Tara Yates-Reeves.
The show was adapted from Cedella Marley’s children’s book and choreographed by Michael J. Bobbitt. Nick Olcott directed it. The show’s design team includes Arranger and Orchestrator John L. Cornelius, II, Assistant Director Adi Stein, Music Director Darius Smith, Set Designer Joe Musumeci, Costume Designer Kendra Rai, Properties Designer Andrea “Dre” Moore, Lighting Designer Brian Allard and Sound Designer Neil McFadden.
Michael J. Bobbitt, Producing Artistic Director at Adventure Theatre MTC says of the show’s success, “I couldn’t have asked for a better experience with the New Victory Theatre, and we’ve been delighted with the show’s ability to reach a warm and receptive audience who loves Bob Marley and loves memorable theatrical experiences. We cannot wait to experience it again, this time in New York.”
Ticket information for the season is at available at NewVictory.org and at (646) 223-3010. Ticket information will be announced for the Bowie State Fine and Performing Arts Center later this year.
