It’s not easy being a fabulous gay ethnically ambiguous spoken word poet looking for love in the big city. Or the small city. Or anywhere, really.

It’s a hilarious adventure full of visceral experiences, olfactory sensations, loneliness, maple flavoring, and a dash of Icona Pop just for kicks – but it is definitely not easy.
Talking about it, though? That, performer and writer Regie Cabico makes look like a cakewalk. A maple-flavored cakewalk.
Regie takes his audience through a panoply of random encounters and one-night-stands, relationships and friendships that could be something more – but aren’t. It’s laugh-out-loud, raucous humor mixed with just the right level of melancholy loneliness to remind you that at the center of all the ridiculousness is a man searching for love.
The poetry is excellent – but that is to be expected from this award winning, well respected slam poet with 5,000+ followers on Facebook. Some of the more resonant moments, though, are when Regie just tells a story. Or many stories. Hilarious stories.

Details and tickets
Caos of F is a great venue for the show – there’s not a bad seat in the house, and Regie expertly uses the quirks and oddities of the space to full advantage.
Sure, there’s more that could be said about the show – but that would just give it all away. Let me put it simply: run – don’t walk – down to Caos on F and nab a spot in the awesome that is Godiva Dates and One Night Stands.
One word of warning: this show is definitely not for kids, or those easily offended by adult language. There’s plenty of it.
Now, off to make sure that no one I know has Facebook friends from Banff. See the show, you’ll understand.
