We are pleased to announce the 7th annual DC Theatre Scene nominations for the 2012-2013 Washington area theatre season.
DCTS staff evaluated 291 professional area productions to produce nominations in the following categories: Plays, Musicals, Family Shows, Operas, and Cabarets. Performance nominations are for those categories and for the Ensemble Cast Award. This year’s awards recognize the outstanding work of 33 presenting companies, 133 individual performances and 15 ensemble cast performances.
As always, the audience will choose the top five finalists in all categories in the first round of balloting which begins Monday, August 12th, and will determine the winners in the second, and final round, which ends Sunday, August 25th.

Best actor in a musical Modesto Lacen
Best actor in a musical…hands down Modesto Lacen as Roberto Clemente in DC-7
And best musical…of course DC-7!!!!
Amazing, moving and entertaining!!!
Alyson Cambridge was truly amazing in Showboat. The entire cast was amazing, but Cambridge was the standout because of her acting which had to embody the core elements of the tragedy of racism, and her delivery of “Bill” which was hauntingly beautiful and outstanding. BRAVA.
Such a great theater season! Loved SO many shows and performances. The Elaborate Entrance of Chad Deity at Woolly Mammoth is the most fun I’ve had at a theater in years. And I was totally blown away by Rick Foucheux’s (Shelly) in Glengarry Glen Ross at Round House.
No Coriolanus or Wallenstein included for best play? Huge omissions.
Not being a DC area resident, I can’t legitimately vote, but I’m sure Justine Moral as Wendy in Peter Pan and Wendy would be deserving of your votes for the Best Actress in a Family Show category, having seen her videos on Imagination Stage.
Peter Pan and Wendy, all the way!
Three Little Birds, Adventure Theatre-MTC is going to Off-Broadway! Need I say more?!
Maria Rizzo needs to win the best actress in a musical! she was Sally Bowes in Cabaret and the best performance ever!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
