This year, 530 voters took on the challenge of nominating the final 5 finalists in all categories for the 2012-2013 season Audience Choice Awards. This audience of voters showed they appreciate the work of the large venues as well as the small houses, placing MetroStage, Theater J, Round House Theatre, Keegan Theatre, Signature Theatre, and The Kennedy Center among the most nominated.
The categories attracting the most number of voters were Plays, Musicals, and Ensemble cast nominations, followed by Non-Resident Productions, Family Theatre, Opera and the new category, Cabarets.
This year we invited voters to write in productions and performances which hadn’t been nominated. In two cases, Male Performer in an Opera and Actress in a Family Show, those nominations placed performers in the finalist category.
Voting got off to a brisk start this morning for the final round to determine the winners of this year’s Awards. In the first 90 minutes, 126 voters cast their ballots.
We encourage everyone to voice your choice. If you voted in the first round, you already have your ballot. If you haven’t voted, you still have time to request an invitation. No duplicate requests, please – we can send only one ballot link per email address. Voting closes Sunday night, August 24th at midnight.
