MetroStage’s production of The Island, Athol Fugard’s drama about two prisoners in a South African jail, has closed after three performances. Starring Michael Anthony Williams and Doug Brown, the Sunday night press opening drew rave reviews. DCTS’ Alan Katz considered seeing the play a “moral necessity.”
However, as Demers described in his review, the actors had suffered injuries in the preview weekend. While hoping to continue, it was decided today to move the performances dates of The Island to July 10 – August 2, 2015. Tickets are now on sale.
MetroStage will continue their season with another drama, The Letters by John W. Lowell, and starring Susan Lynskey and Michael Russotto. The Letters will run May 8 – June 7 at MetroStage, 1201 North Royal Street. Details and tickets or call 703 548-9044.
