Daddy Long Legs, the two person musical now playing off-Broadway, will be live streamed from New York tonight from the Davenport Theatre on 45th Street. While we’ve become accustomed to viewing London shows live streamed events, usually from a theater charging admission, this is the first time any Broadway or Off-Broadway producer has been able to negotiate the necessary rights to live stream. And audiences from around the world can see it on their own screens free of charge.
The one night only live stream begins Thursday, December 10 at 8pm New York time, with replays at 8pm Los Angeles time, 8pm London time and 8pm Tokyo time. Click here to view.
Daddy Long Legs, the new musical from Les Misérables director John Caird and Jane Eyre composer Paul Gordon stars the husband and wife team of Megan McGinnis and Adam Halpin, who play the Cinderella-style romance with “charm to spare.” (Huffington Post).

Producer Ken Davenport wrote on his blog “I’ve been wanting to do this for a Broadway show for years. At the moment, the Broadway model is too inflexible for it to make sense. Off Broadway isn’t that much easier (some unions get it more than others), but since I run the [Davenport] theater and since Daddy is a smaller scale show, it’s worth the experiment.
“If you are excited about the possibility of live streaming Broadway and Off Broadway shows, then I hope you’ll tune in to our experiment on December 10th at 8pm ET (or for any of the replays). The more viewers we have, the more there’s a chance of more shows streaming in the future.”

I wish I wouldn’t have missed this! Is there a recording available somewhere?
