Why Nu Sass Productions is giving away their closing weekend tickets to 43 1/2: The Greatest Deaths of Shakespeare’s Tragedies.
“DC is an amazing city. It is full of some of the hardest working citizens in America. Public Servants keep our cities, states, and country running, and the people of DC serve those servants every day. This is a city built on volunteer hours, unpaid internships, overtime, and sheer love of community and country. We are compelled to build, strengthen, unite, and expand our opportunities.
Right now a LOT of people in DC feel like that time, energy, and love has been for naught – we did go 93% for Hillary after all – and it’s hard to find things to feel happy or excited about. The pundits are doing more than enough analysis for what happened, why it happened, and what’s coming next.”
DC Theatre Scene reveals 43 1/2‘s hilarious scene stealers
“We won’t add to that echo chamber right now. All we will say is this – Nu Sass is a female run company that works to support women and transgender people in the arts in DC (and everywhere else), and we were #withher, so today we are consoling one another along with our communities.
Nu Sass can’t change how the election turned out, and we’re still looking at how to process these results through art for the future, so we don’t have any answers now except this – We Need To Laugh.
We need to laugh, to engage, to see friends, to participate in art and theater, and to do all the things we’ve been fighting for all these years. We don’t know what the future will bring, but we have a strong, vibrant city right now and we need to enjoy it for every second it’s ours.

With this in mind, Nu Sass has decided to offer free tickets to anyone who would like to attend our closing weekend of 43 ½: The Greatest Deaths of Shakespeare’s Tragedies. This play tackles all the deaths of Shakespeare’s Tragedies as a comedy, turning the morbid and morose into a laugh out loud moment. The Scientific American tells us that “laughter helps kill the pain” and we would like to help heal everyone in the city who could use a little dose of personal painkiller.
We are also selling our standard full price tickets, as well as discount tickets, and are ALWAYS taking donations to support our mission, but we will not be upset if every seat is filled with a free ticket holder. For us at Nu Sass the purpose of theater is to connect, engage, delight, expand, and heal our communities. This is best way we can think to do that right now.”
