There are plenty of shows filled with holiday spirit (and spirits) from the sweet to the scary on our stages this year. Here’s a look.

A Christmas Carol
Perhaps nothing says Christmas for Washingtonians than a visit to Ford’s Theatre’s Christmas Carol, now in its 35th year. Craig Wallace returns to play the role of Ebenezer Scrooge.

Miracle on 34th Street
A musical re-imagining of the famous Christmas movie at Toby’s Dinner Theatre, which serves dinner or brunch along with this holdiay favorite.

Frosty the Snowman
Kids find a magic hat, and a snowman, and that’s all it takes for the whole cast to start dancing in this Adventure Theatre/MTC show.

A Child’s Christmas in Wales
Washington Stage Guild adds Christmas stories from Louisa May Alcott and a little known Charles Dickens tale to Dylan Thomas’ recount of his childhood Christmas.

A Circus Carol
Sweet Spot Aerial Productions tells the story of W.T. Dickens High School where chaos reigns supreme as teachers, administrators and students try to get it together in time for their annual holiday production.

The Best Christmas Pagaent Ever
Anacostia Playhouse invites the community in to join the performance of this story of a church’s troubled Christmas pagaent that brings the true spirit of Christmas to its members.

Step Afrika!’s Magical Musical Holiday Step Show
DC’s internationally-known percussive dance company invites you to celebrate the holidays with clapping, stomping and all around fun for all ages featuring their furry friends from the Arctic Kingdom, and a special dance party with DJ Frosty the Snowman!

Whole Lotta Christmas Goin’ On
Infinity Theatre rocks out in this seasonal cabaret by J. P. Coletta, who turned heads in his portrayal of Jerry Lee Lewis in Million Dollar Quartet.

The Second City’s Twist Your Dickens
The legendary comedy troupe brings its infamous improvisational skills and sketch comedy mastery to the timeless tale of Ebenezer Scrooge.
