A week doesn’t go by that I don’t read something interesting, informative or helpful about the theatre community in DC Theatre Scene.
Times are truly chilling when accusations of fake news threaten our First Amendment. As artists, we must be there to support each other; we must encourage new voices; we must ensure that honest dialogue can continue in theatre; we must stay connected.
DC Theatre Scene helps us do this. Even just a dollar a week or whatever contribution you can make would go a very long way to support OUR community.
Toni Morrison says it better–
This is precisely the time when artists go to work. There is no time for despair, no place for self-pity, no need for silence, no room for fear. We speak, we write, we do language. That is how civilizations heal. I know the world is bruised and bleeding, and though it is important not to ignore its pain, it is also critical to refuse to succumb to its malevolence. Like failure, chaos contains information that can lead to knowledge — even wisdom. Like art.
DC Theatre Scene is a voice in the arts community that we cannot afford to lose.
