The two Washington-area theaters with a large Federal Government footprint will remain open during the partial shutdown of the Federal government, the companies reported.

Ford’s Theatre, which is currently running its annual production of A Christmas Carol, will have no alternation in its production schedule. However, the theater, which is also a museum and historic site, will be closed for visitation during the day, as will be its companion museum, the Petersen House. Matinee performances of A Christmas Carol will go on as scheduled.
Similarly, the Kennedy Center’s multiple productions, which include Miss Saigon, The Play that Goes Wrong, and Love, Factually will all go on as scheduled. The building, however, will be closed before 5 P.M. unless there is an earlier performance. Even when the building is closed, visitors will be admitted (A Level North Portal) to purchase tickets at the box office or shop in the gift shop. Both the gift shop and the box office will remain open during regular business hours.
