The Hub Theatre, which has been performing for the previous ten seasons in Fairfax VA’s New School on Silver King Court, is leaving that venue immediately and will be performing their 11th season out-of-house, the company announced today.
Hub will perform its next show, The Burn, in Herndon, VA’s NextStop Theatre. The Burn is scheduled to run from April 26 to May 12. The Hub has not announced a venue for its season finale, American Spies and Other Homegrown Fables.
Hub gave no reason for its departure from its longstanding home, commenting only that “[a]fter a lovely run at the New School…The Hub is moving on from that partnership. We are so grateful for our time there, and hopeful for the growth and community-building to come.”
In the same announcement, Hub revealed that The Jewish Community Center of Northern Virginia will host a new play festival consisting of four staged readings. Those new plays will be Heartland, by Gabriel Jason Dean, on January 20 at 4 pm at Reston’s Used Books, 1623 Washington Plaza N., Reston; The Dirt Collector, by former Hub Artistic Director Helen Murray on January 21 at 7 p.m. at Alexandria’s Evening Star Cafe (2000 Mt. Vernon Avenue); Primary User, by Nate Eppler, on January 28 at 7 PM at Clare & Don’s Beach Shack, 130 N.
