With more than 30 shows opening this month, the 2019-2020 season is underway with a bang. To celebrate, theatreWashington is sponsoring its annual Theatre Week, September 10-29, and is getting things started with a free Kick-Off Party at Arena Stage, Saturday, September 7 from 11am-4pm.
The opening to an afternoon of performances, giveaways, and meet-and-greets will be a panel discussion between Peter Marks of the Washington Post and three new artistic directors – Maria Goyanes of Woolly Mammoth Theatre Company, Raymond O. Caldwell of Theater Alliance, and Chil Kong of Adventure Theatre MTC on The Future of Washington Theatre. It begins at 11am.
A full slate of performances you won’t want to miss starts at 12:30pm and, in the lobby, representatives of many theatre companies will be on hand to meet you. DC Theatre Scene will be there, too, with handouts, and chances to win dining gift cards from area restaurants. Ben Demers of DC Theatre Scene says “Come see what we’ve been up to, and what you can expect for the next season. More theater. More reviews. More features. More connections!”
Free food and drinks, free family fun, free performances. It’s all happening at Arena Stage, September 7 from 11am to 4:30pm.
