Arena Stage became the latest company to cancel the remainder of its 2019-2020 season.
Arena will reschedule Celia and Fidel, Seven Guitars, and Toni Stone for the 2020-2021 season as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, the company said.
Three shows scheduled for the 2021-2022 season — Theresa Rebeck’s Enlightenment, Mike Daisey’s The Change and Lynn Nottage’s Crumbs for the Table of Joy will be moved to the 2021-2022 program year to make room for the postponed shows.
The Mead Center for American Theater, home of Arena Stage, will be closed at least through March 29. A company spokesperson said that Arena Stage will maintain its staff, without furloughs, at least through April.
Current ticket holders may exchange their season tickets for comparable tickets to the 2021-2022 season, exchanging individual tickets for other individual tickets, applying the ticket balance to a gift certificate, or making a donation to Arena Stage of the value of the remaining tickets. Arena is a 501(c)(3) organization and tickets are tax-deductible.
