The pandemic has turned theater into a treasure hunt for some companies as they scramble to find new modes of presentation which are both safe and rewarding for their audiences. But one area theater company has decided to turn this metaphor on its head, and make, as part of its theatrical season, a treasure hunt for its audiences.
Rorschach Theatre has devised a piece called Distance Frequencies, in which ticket purchasers will get a map and instructions to travel to a curated location in the City of Washington. Each month, ticket holders receive a box of artifacts – letters, music, souvenirs or photos – which they will open when they arrive at the location. Rorschach will give Distance Frequencies a full production in July, under whatever safety protocols obtain at that time.
Distance Frequencies extends from October through June. Tickets for this adventure are $100 through Tuesday, October 13. After that, the price rises to $150. You can get tickets by clicking here.
We have to adapt during the pandemic. Businesses need to find ways to pay their bills.
