There has long been debate about the true origins of Shakespeare’s plays. Did he write all of them himself? Did he write any of them himself? Uh, was he even a real guy? We may never know! One thing is certain, though — somebody made up those brilliant plays. And that’s what The Improvised Shakespeare Company does: They make up a brand-new play in the style of Shakespeare. The only difference is they do it live, right there on stage, creating a fully improvised play in Elizabethan style based on audience suggestions. Each of the players has brushed up on his “thees” and “thous” to present an evening of off-the-cuff comedy using the language and themes of Shakespeare. The only predictable thing? The results will be hilarious.
