Seasonal Disorder tickets might just be what Santa should bring to all those “bah humbug” sorts that have forgotten how to laugh. We all have holiday stories tucked away in our cerebral archives that may not seem so funny to us, but in the hands of the creative folks at Washington Improv Theatre they are molded into hilarious little gems of holiday buffoonery that serve to remind us of just how funny the holidays can be.
The expert cast of actors (Topher Bellavia, Michael Bass, Mark Chalfant, Brian Coleman, David Johnson, Tyler Korba and Natasha Rothwell) create and perform tight, funny snippets of comedic brilliance based on the holiday recollections of audience members. The ability to think fast and funny is everything to this show and there was no disappointment at the Mead Theatre Lab. WIT delivers the goods better, faster and a whole lot funnier than a team of drunken reindeer on a cold winter’s night.
Of course each and every performance is totally different with a new set of audience holiday memories to build on — my particular show went so far as to question where to hide a holiday sausage. WIT is an entertainment bargain and is located near some really great downtown dining. A huge Christmas tree lot a few blocks away selling all kinds of holiday cheer is open late so you can buy your tree on the way home. Seasonal Disorder starts at 8PM and is followed by more holiday fun titled Misfit Toys and WIRT that serve as the troupe’s late late show. All three shows run through Dec. 30., 2005
