Theatregoers are about to get a lot busier with the re-opening of The Bethesda Theatre this Fall. We spoke with Ray Cullom of Nederlander Worldwide Entertainment, which will be managing and booking the space when the historic venue re-opens October 4th. First up will be the long-running off-Broadway hit I Love You, Your Perfect, Now Change. The rest of the season is yet to be revealed, but Cullom said the Bethesda will produce mostly musicals brought in from as far away as the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, from San Francisco and New York. The road to New York flows both ways, and Nederlander Worldwide intends to mount some productions locally with an eye to testing whether they might go on to New York.
A full service bar and cafe will be located in the lobby, providing a comfortable space for relaxing before the show and, for those staying after, a chance to mingle with cast members. Tickets will be reasonable, Cullom stated. He expects prices to range from $40 – $45, and parking is inexpensive in the adjacent 300 car parking garage. Full details will follow later this month.
