In the underworld of Baltimore’s theatre, success comes, but it usually involves heading out of the Beltway for good. At least that’s the assumption. Director Jim Knipple is one of those Baltimore artists who checked out. But he could never really leave.

I assumed I’d seen him for the last time. But he’s back in Baltimore. He’s living at the low-rent City Arts Apartments in Station North. Once again, he’s dealing with small audiences and a wandering spotlight. And he’s ready, once again, to shake up Baltimore’s theatre world.
