This Sunday, November 10th, Tony award winning playwright David Henry Hwang (M. Butterfly, ) will be speaking to audiences at Reston Community Center’s CenterStage.

If he wished, while he is in the area he could see work on two of his plays, about to be staged in our area. Pinky Swear Productions is now in previews with Bondage (1992) at Anacostia Playhouse. Its official opening is Saturday, November 9th. Yellow Face (2007), Hwang’s memoir play triggered by the casting controversy over the Broadway production of M. Butterfly opens January 29, 2014 at Theater J. Hwang talked about exchanging ideas with Theater J Artistic Director Ari Roth, in this interview with David Siegel. “I try to regard my plays, after their initial NY premieres, as grown-up children, in whose lives I shouldn’t continue to meddle too much,”he told Siegel. But perhaps we’ll get to see him at a production or two.
Hwang’s topic for Sunday’s appearance is “Lost (and Found) in Translation: How I Learned to Write What I Don’t Know”.
